with the new operating-system ios4 the iphone finally is ready for multitasking. also it is now possible to create folders, which is a big relief, in order of all the new apps i discover every week. but the best news for me sure is, that the new os adds the ability to work on playlists on the go.
for years it has only been possible to edit the “on-the-go-playlist”. i never understood why. i searched the web for solutions and apps to create playlists on the go without a workable result. the apps i tried out weren’t syncing with itunes or simply didn’t work at all. with the update from apple, playlist on the iphone are finally how they should be.

does anybody know if the ipod’s got the multiple playlist support, too?

seit ich ein iphone besitze, bin ich immer wieder verblüfft über die vielfältigen einsatzbereiche die sich eröffnen. das telefon ist mit der zeit viel viel mehr geworden als eben nur ein telefon.

als weiteren einsatzbereich habe ich nun das spontane recording von songideen oder gesprochenen notizen entdeckt. eigentlich etwas, das sich dank dem integrierten mikro und der vorinstallierten app “sprachmemo” aufdrängt. leider liefert apple mit sprachmemo” ein sehr begrenztes tool um vernünftige ergebnisse zu erzielen. immerhin reicht es aber aus um ganz flott mal ein paar sätze zu diktieren. für alles andere gibt es mittlerweile aber ebenfalls solide lösungen.

recording apps

am häufigsten ärgerte es mich zunächst bei bei bandproben, das die schnellen mitschnitte vollkommen überteuert und so kaum zu gebrauchen waren.
es gibt einige programme im appstore die als alternative zu “sprachmemos” in frage kommen. nach vielem ausprobieren sind meine beiden favoriten
die recht teure app fourtrack sowie die kostenlose alternative blue fire.

mit fourtrack lassen sich wie der name schon sagt gleich mehrer spuren recorden. so kann man, natürlich sehr viel beschränkter als bei programmen wie logic, garage band und co, spur für spur aufnehmen und später in einen song bouncen. das funktioniert schon über das eingebaute mikro ganz prima. der eingangspegel lässt sich gut steuern und extras wie effekte und metronom werden vom programm unterstützt. das highlight empfinde ich, das man bequem über wifi die songs an einen beliebigen rechner übertragen kann. der preis von 7 euro ist zwar recht hoch, aber die software macht das iphone dafür auch zu einer sehr guten recordinglösung für unterwegs.

blue fire ist eine kostenlos app vom mikrofonhersteller blue, die ebenfalls sehr sehr gut gemacht ist. fertige tracks lassen sich dann zur weiteren verwendung auf einen ftp-server hochladen. mehrspurrecording wird hier allerdings nicht unterstützt.

passendes mikrofon?

natürlich kommt man mit dem eingebauten mikro des iphone irgendwann an akkustische grenzen. doch echte alternativen habe ich lange keine gefunden. das mitgelieferte headset bringt der aufnahmequalität leichte verbesserung ist aber denkbar umständlich. neulich bin ich dann über mikey gestolpert. das mikro lässt sich an der usb-buchse des iphones anschließen und bietet eine sehr gute soundqualität. hier beginnt es dann wirklich sinn und spaß zu machen das iphone dabei zu haben und spontan mitschnitte zu machen. ich benutze die lösung hauptsächlich für akkustikgitarren und gesangsaufnahmen zu hause oder unterwegs und könnte zufriedener nicht sein.
auch im proberaum können wir erstmals vernünftige mitschnitte von songs machen die sich incht total nach matsche anhören. das macht vor allem anschaffungen wie den zoom oder tascam mobile recorder überflüssig.

hier eine kleine auswahl an projekten aus dem frühjahr 2010 die ich betreut und gestaltet habe.

after returning from vegas we’ve been to orange county in newport, laguna and huntington beach. we didn’t like it that much, so we went on to pomona.
at the glass house we’ve seen copeland playing their farewell show together with i can make a mess like nobody’s business, lakes and person l.
it was an amazing show.

from there on we drove down to san diego for a couple of days where we hung out at the gaslamp district and went surfing in oceanside.

a very long and boring roadtrip to nevada and then… crazyness all over. what should i say… we stood at the excalibur, drank way too much, went shopping, played poker and went to the clubs. it was spring break and that says it all i believe!

here’s some pictures of our trip to yosemite national park.
we slept two days in mariposa a beautiful small village about 30 miles away from the actual park entrance.
the park itself is too big and beautiful to capture it in words. the photographs tell a better story…

we arrived in san francisco together with two other germans, sarah and her brother marvin, that we met in santa cruz. we took them the 40 miles to san francisco and stood at the same hostel in downtown near market street.

on our way up north to san francisco we stood several days in those beautiful two cities. santa barbara is really small but truely beautiful. everyone seems to young here and everyone drives around using a skateboard.

santa cruz was even better. we stood at a hostel right next to the beach and the pier. daniel went surfing with me. we had good waves for beginners and daniel managed to stand up on the board quite a few times.

also santa cruz is a good place to party, especially on st. patricks day (boy we were so wasted)…
we went shopping a lot but still have no guitar
